September greetings to you all! The children are back to school, the leaves are changing colours, the misty mornings are peeking across the lough and the musical roads of autumn are calling across many's the border.
All kinds of journeys await in the next few months with concerts in Ireland, Switzerland, England, Portugal and Germany. You can find full details here and, needless to say, it would be great to see you at one of the gigs.
Because my musical travels seem to take me in ever widening circles (news coming soon of New Zealand dates in February!), I have decided to bid a fond farewell to presenting Folk Club on BBC Radio Ulster - it's been wonderful to share great songs, tunes and stories on the airwaves with many of you for the past twenty three years but the further my gigs bring me, the more difficult it is to find time to give the programme the attention that it deserves.
The good news is that it continues as a two hour show in the very capable hands of Lynette Faye, hopefully I'll be having a chat with Lynette on her first show going out on September 18th between 8 and 10pm. In the meantime, many thanks to all of you who listened or sent your music or letters, emails or messages, it was very special to have your company in so many different parts of the world across all those years.
I’ll end this little letter now, thanks for taking the time to read it, you can find more frequent updates on my website and on Facebook but the best place of all to meet is in real life! So, if any of those gigs ahead are in a place near you, please come along and say hello!
