For twenty years I’ve had the privilege of presenting Folk Club, the weekly radio show on BBC Radio Ulster.
In that time, thanks to countless musicians and an ever growing worldwide audience,  the programme has grown into a two hour feast of folk and traditional music where the very latest album releases keep company with the great songs and tunes that have stood the test of time.
From vintage vinyl tracks to compositions so new that they haven’t yet been released, Folk Club brings you not just the music but also the people and the stories behind it.
Some of those stories come in through the door each week as we welcome guests to  Studio 8 at BBC in Belfast, other stories are found along the road on my own travels or, as we go out to record concert sets at venues all over the country.

You’d never know who you might meet - from veteran performers like Arlo Guthrie, Mary Black or Andy Irvine to youngsters just setting out on that long musical road that joins us all.  Come in and lend an ear.. Folk Club is like a great session where the house is full but there’s always room for one more!
Tune in to
Radio Ulster live on Saturday evening 20.03 to 22.00 hour GMT or Listen Again to Folk Club on the BBC worldwide website anytime.

CREATIVE BREAK/CHRISTMAS SPECIAL NEWS
I’m taking a creative break from Folk Club for 2012 and I'm happy to say that the highly respected musician and film maker Neil Martin is stepping in as presenter to keep the long running show alive and well for the year ahead. Neil is among a host of my favourite performers in a very special Christmas edition of Folk Club due for transmission on December 24th . The stellar line up includes Tom Byrne, Craobh Rua, Graham Dunne, Mary Dillon, Archie Fisher, Frankie Laine, Mickey MacConnell, Niamh Parsons, Colin Reid, Eleanor Shanley with Ben and Anne Sands joining me for a song near the end!
